When building relationships is a core value of an organization, the holiday parties are really fun. We recently gathered our volunteers together to say thank you for all they have contributed this year to support sustainable small farms.
As the Community Engagement Manager for Kitchen Table Advisors, one of the things that struck me at the volunteer appreciation party was how everyone who was there has played a huge role in our organization. With each person, Kitchen Table Advisors has gained a new perspective or a new opportunity. The forty volunteers who attended the party all have been incredibly influential, and we have even more volunteers who couldn’t attend.
Kitchen Table Advisors is truly just a conduit for folks to express their gratitude and support for farmers who grow food in a way that is aligned with their values. We have seen such a warm welcome in the community because of the amazing amount of passion people have for this kind of farming and the hard work farmers do to bring healthy, righteous food to our tables.
I can’t wait to see what Kitchen Table Advisors will become as the community grows and deepens. It has been inspiring to see the organization develop over the last two years. Through the collective ideas and resources we have all put into this effort, Kitchen Table Advisors has become greater than any one of us. We each hold something precious that can help move our food system a little closer to the one we want to see - one where the people who feed us healthy food are able to thrive by working in harmony with the environment and doing work that they love.
It has been an incredible year. We have learned so much. We are so so grateful to be doing this work and for the gifts each member of our community has brought. I can’t wait to begin 2015 with all of you!
