Ever wonder why small sustainable farmers choose to farm despite the challenges? In this short film, our client, Jesse Pizzitola of First Light Farm, explains what inspired him to begin farming.
Making of the Film
One aspect of the work we do at Kitchen Table Advisors is connecting small sustainable farmers with volunteer marketing and branding strategists to help them tell their story. Making a personal connection with potential customers is especially important for farmers like Jesse, who depend on direct sales and CSA signups to succeed. Jayson Carpenter is a professional photographer and he has taken many beautiful photos for Kitchen Table Advisors. So, when Jayson offered to make a 2.5 minute video about one of our farms, we knew Jesse would be the perfect fit.
With the help of Frank Gaglione, another fantastic volunteer photographer, we spent the day keeping equipment dry, asking Jesse to do his normal day activities, and having Jesse tell and retell his story of what motivated him to participate in the natural world. It was a first for all of us.
We are very proud how this video captures the beauty and honesty of Jesse's work as a farmer. In addition, we are very grateful to have volunteers like Jayson and Frank who represent the kind of community our clients need in order to succeed: folks who take a moment to engage beyond the farmers market in order to make a positive impact on the future of their local farmers by giving their time & talent, contacts, and financial resources.
We hope you enjoy the film!
