Kitchen Table Advisors believes that thriving food systems depend on involved and engaged communities.
We work to enable members of our community to positively contribute to the success of local small farms by becoming involved in a variety of ways. Our community of committed individuals and organizations are all believers in strengthening sustainable local food systems. They provide their expertise to farms and farmers, work to strengthen our organization, spread the message, and contribute financial and social capital to advance our mission. Everyone has a role - or more than one - that they can play in strengthening our food systems. What will your role(s) be?
You can join our broad and deep network of people who have specific and targeted professional experiences to assist both our farms and our organization.
Capacity Builders help Kitchen Table Advisors by strengthening the organization's ability to deliver services, engage community, and spread the message of how to invest in local food systems. Working with our staff, volunteers, interns, and fellows address a wide range of organizational needs including fundraising and grant-writing, communications and media relations, or event planning.
Farm Advisors work directly with farmers in our client portfolio. They are experienced professionals with a set of specialized skills - like accounting, law, or marketing - that farmers often need but may not have reliable or trustworthy access to. Kitchen Table Advisors helps connect these professionals with our farmers when the need arises.
If you enjoy chatting and engaging people in rich and meaningful conversations, then being a Kitchen Table Advisors champion could just right for you.
We benefit from a core group of Connectors who are proactively identifying people, resources, or opportunities which can further our mission. They are networkers who connect us with volunteers, staff, or partners who believe in sustainable local food systems, or to funding and marketing opportunities.
Kitchen Table Advisors also relies on Ambassadors – people that help communicate the organization’s unique role and value proposition to outside audiences. Ambassadors can give speeches about our work and mission and represent the organization at various events.
We are a young and growing organization. Our efforts to invest in the economic viability of small sustainable farms is made possible in large part from the generous support of our community of donors, foundations, and socially responsible organizations.
Kitchen Table Advisors has been fortunate to receive contributions from Individual Donors in the form of personal contributions and in-kind donations. Through these contributions, donors know they are taking an impactful and active role in strengthening the success of our region's small farms.
Institutional Funders are providing grants and supporting our clear vision for how to create tangible change in our food system. Current funders include: Bank of the West, Gaia Fund, Citi, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Goggio Family Foundation, and Clif Bar Family Foundation.
Kitchen Table Advisors is an independent project of the Trust for Conservation Innovation, a fiscal sponsor for environmental causes.
