What’s wrong with our food system?

According to the USDA, 50% of small farms don’t survive beyond their first five years and, out of the survivors, only 25% make it to 15 years. That’s where we come in.

The industrialized food system depletes land without providing adequate nourishment, all while disempowering farmers and ranchers who seek to create environmental and social change. This leads to higher failure rates for the producers who nourish us — especially women, BIPOC, and immigrants.

Who do we serve?

Kitchen Table Advisors supports farmers and ranchers who use regenerative agricultural practices, and are leaders for social and environmental change within the food system. We support Northern California producers to reach new milestones, from hiring their first employees to buying property and beyond.

We prioritize work with communities that have historically been excluded from resources and recognition within our food system — namely the BIPOC, women, low-income, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ communities.

What’s our vision?

We believe in a vibrant food system based in community, justice and ecological responsibility, where all farmers and ranchers can thrive.

Our Values

Equity

Everyone has the resources they need to thrive given their identity, unique circumstances, and systemic barriers that exist.

Empathy

Not feeling for someone, feeling with them. It requires us to recognize our different lived experiences and to approach our interactions with curiosity and openness.

Ecological Responsibility

The choices we make are grounded in a reciprocal relationship with nature. We honor the diverse knowledge and agricultural practices that our clients bring, and the role that they play as land stewards in mitigating climate change.

Resilience

The capacity of ecosystems, communities, businesses, and the individuals within them to respond and adapt to the complexities of life. We build relationships and reserves of resources in order to have greater resilience.

Transformative Leadership

The wisdom and talents of each person allow us to realize new possibilities. We co-create opportunities for individual leadership to flourish in support of our shared vision.
